There’s a new way to report your brand’s news via social: Twitter Custom Timelines. First it was the IPO, now it’s a flurry of Twerks!
Twitter’s recent funding opened the gate for new perks including Twitter Custom Timelines, it’s latest feature that lets brand publishers curate, organize and customize timelines using TweetDeck.
Pick your most newsworthy tweets
The custom timelines are an entirely new type of timeline –– one that you create. You name it, and choose the Tweets you want to add to it, either by hand or programmatically using the API. This means that when the conversation around your news event or any topic takes off on Twitter, you have the opportunity to create a timeline that reflects what you believe to be the most newsworthy and noteworthy, relevant Tweet.
Here’s an example of a custom Twitter timelines I created for #SEOChat, a weekly real-time Twitter chat happening every Thursday at 10 am PST. The last #SEOchat was hosted by Melissa Fach, owner of SEO Aware, FloridaSEOTraining.com and MedicalSEOTraining.com. She drilled down to the importance of content marketing spurring a fast and furious stream of tweets. #SEOChat was founded by Ash Buckles, Greg Shuey and Dan Patterson, today it features a different first host each week with a topic centered around SEO. You can check out my Twitter list to see all the official #SEOchat moderators and their real-time Twitter stream.
